But the Nittany Lions’ season has fallen off a cliff, James Franklin is gone and PSU doesn’t even have its quarterback, Drew Allar.
Allar’s matchups with Ohio State always brought a bit of extra hype. He’s the kid from Medina, Ohio who the Buckeyes didn’t notice until it was too late, Ohio Mr. Football who went to Happy Valley.
But this season, there’s no Allar. He has already played his last game in this rivalry.

Why isn’t Drew Allar playing today vs. Ohio State?
Drew Allar isn’t playing today, or the rest of the season, because he’s out with an injury.

Allar was carted off the field with an injury against Northwestern in mid-October.
He scrambled on a third-and-four and got his left leg sandwiched between a pair of defenders.
Franklin announced after the game that Allar was “done for the year.”
A few days later, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported that Allar had gotten successful surgery on his broken left ankle and would be “on track for a full recovery.”
Penn State’s backup quarterback, now QB1, is Ethan Grunkemeyer.
Allar will begin preparing for the NFL Draft as he recovers from his injury.
