Volodymyr Zelensky is now facing backlash over his Donbas referendum proposal at home. Former Ukrainian prime minister Nikolay Azarov rejected the president’s plan, accusing him of trying to manoeuvre and not consulting the people of Ukraine. The remark comes a day after Kremlin rejected Zelensky’s proposal, saying that Donbas is a sovereign Russian territory and sooner or later, Moscow would establish control over the region.
