Fes News – Fes – The Kingdom of Morocco commemorates, on the sixth of November each year, the anniversary of the victorious Green March, that immortal historical epic launched by His Majesty King Hassan II, may God rest his soul, in 1975, which marked a pivotal transformation in modern Moroccan history, as it established the path of peaceful struggle to complete the territorial integrity of the Kingdom.
On its fiftieth anniversary, that deep feeling of pride and national honor is renewed in the hearts of Moroccans, as they recall one of the greatest pages of contemporary national history, where the Green March embodied the pinnacle of cohesion between the Throne and the people, and proved to the entire world that Moroccan national unity is not a slogan, but a firm conviction in the nation’s consciousness.
The Green March was launched on November 6, 1975, with the participation of 350,000 Moroccan men and women from different regions of the Kingdom, heading from the city of Tarfaya towards the Saharan provinces, carrying the Holy Quran and the national flag, in a peaceful civilized scene that amazed the world and confirmed that Morocco chose the path of peace and wisdom in defending its legitimate right to its Sahara.
This glorious national anniversary comes today in a renewed context, where Morocco continues under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God grant him victory, the march of construction and development in the southern provinces, through major development projects that have made the Moroccan Sahara an engine of African development and a center of economic and strategic influence.
