Two 16-year-old boys have been charged with attempted murder after a man was stabbed at a city centre German Doner Kebab shop.
A 19-year-old man was stabbed at German Doner Kebab in Granby Street, Leicester, on Thursday at around 1pm.
The area was cordoned off by Leicestershire Police in the aftermath, while three teenage boys were arrested, two of which have now been charged.
The boys, who cannot be named due to their ages, have also been charged with possessing offensive weapons, and they are due at Leicester Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
The third boy, also 16, who was arrested in connection with the incident remains in custody.
The police said in a statement this afternoon: ‘Officers investigating a stabbing in Leicester’s Granby Street have made a total of three arrests.
‘Two boys, both aged 16, who were arrested on Friday and yesterday, have both been charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon.

‘A third 16-year-old boy has also been arrested today in connection with the incident. He currently remains in police custody.’
The 19-year-old victim was taken to hospital by the East Midlands Ambulance Service, where he is in a stable condition and is continuing to receive treatment, police said.
They added: ‘We are continuing to appeal for anyone who can help police with their ongoing inquiries to get in touch. This includes anyone who is able to provide mobile phone, CCTV or dashcam footage.’

On Friday, Simon Wallis, chief executive of German Doner Kebab (GDK), said: ‘We are aware of an incident that took place yesterday in Leicester city centre. Our thoughts are with those affected.
‘GDK Leicester temporarily closed while we cooperated fully with the ongoing police investigation and have now been advised that the restaurant can reopen this evening.
‘The safety of our team and customers remains our top priority, and we continue to support the authorities in any way we can.’
