Arsenal will host Crystal Palace in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, hoping to remain top of the table ahead of their rivals.
The Gunners have lost just once in the Premier League this season, conceding only three times, and they sit three points above Manchester City heading into the weekend’s fixtures. Crystal Palace enjoyed a frightening start to the campaign, but they’ve slowed down of late, failing to win in their previous two games after an unbeaten opening couple of months.
GIVEMESPORT have taken a look at the teams and potential lineups for both sides heading into this game.
Arsenal Team News
Piero Hincapie returned to the bench during the week in the Champions League, in what is a big boost for the Gunners. Gabriel Magalhaes was substituted in that one, and he could miss out this weekend. Kai Havertz, Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Jesus, and Noni Madueke remain sidelined, and they are not expected to return until after the international break at least.
After an impressive victory over Atletico Madrid in the week, there’s little reason for Mikel Arteta to rotate his side too much heading into this one.
Mikel Arteta Shares Arsenal Team News Update
Speaking to the media ahead of Arsenal’s game against Palace, Arteta provided an injury update…
“They are all progressing really well [Madueke, Odegaard, Havertz, and Jesus], they are all starting to do certain activities, they are all super willing to be available as quick as possible but at the moment none of them are yet in contention in the next week or so.
Big Gabi [Gabriel] had to leave the pitch with an issue and he hasn’t been able to train yet. Let’s see how he trains over the next 24 hours.”
Arsenal Predicted XI
- Arsenal Predicted XI: Raya; Timber, Saliba, Mosquera, Calafiori; Eze, Zubimendi, Rice; Saka, Gyokeres, Martinelli
- Arsenal Predicted Substitutes: Kepa (GK), Hincapie (DEF), Lewis-Skelly (DEF), White (DEF), Merino (MID), Norgaard (MID), Nwaneri (MID), Trossard (FWD), Dowman (FWD).
With Gabriel potentially missing out, Cristhian Mosquera could come into the starting XI at the back. Hincapie might not be fit enough to start given his recent injury troubles. In the only other change from the Champions League clash against Atletico, Riccardo Calafiori could come in to replace Myles Lewis-Skelly.
That means £280,000-a-week duo Mikel Merino and Ben White will be watching on from the bench.
Crystal Palace Team News
There should be no fresh injury concerns for Palace as they prepare to make the short trip to north London to face Arsenal.
The Eagles played in the Europa Conference League during this week, with everyone coming through unscathed. Caleb Kporha, Cheick Doucoure, and Chadi Riad remain out for the away side.
Oliver Glasner Shares Crystal Palace Injury Update
Speaking to the media ahead off their game against Arsenal, Glasner said…
“It looks like everyone came through physically OK [from the Europa Conference tie against Larnaca]. For us it is now just about recovery.”
Crystal Palace Predicted XI
- Crystal Palace Predicted XI: Henderson; Richards, Lacroix, Guehi; Munoz, Wharton, Kamada, Mitchell; Pino, Sarr; Mateta
- Crystal Palace Predicted Substitutes: Benitez (GK), Canvot (DEF), Clyne (DEF), Sosa (DEF), Hughes (MID), Lerma (MID), Uche (FWD), Nketiah (FWD), Esse (FWD).
Adam Wharton and Chris Richards were among those dropped to the bench during the week as Glasner looked to rotate his side, but they could come straight back into the starting XI. Daicha Kamada could start ahead of Will Hughes and Jefferson Lerma in the middle of the park.
