Successful visit of Turkmen President to Mongolia strengthens economic and development ties


Ulaanbaatar – Turkmenistan and Mongolia signed intergovernmental cooperation documents to strengthen the legal basis for bilateral relations and expand cooperation in trade, economy, investment, foreign relations, light industry, health, education, and science. This came during the official visit of His Excellency Serdar Berdimuhamedov, President of Turkmenistan, to Mongolia, which concluded on June 2, 2025.

During the State Visit, President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa and President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedow held a tête-à-tête and official talks, discussing ways to expand and develop friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation and expand collaboration on regional and international fora. Furthermore, intergovernmental and inter-agency cooperation documents were signed to strengthen the legal foundation of bilateral relations and expand cooperation in trade, economy, investment, foreign relations, light industry, health, education, and science during the State Visit.

This state visit is the first visit of the head of state of Turkmenistan to Mongolia since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1992, and This is a return visit after the state visit of Mongolian President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa to Turkmenistan in 2024.

 

The Mongolia-Turkmenistan Business Forum was organized, where enterprises from the two countries established direct contacts and laid the foundation for long-term cooperation in food, agriculture, and textile and knitwear production. Under the auspices of the two Heads of State, more than 80 artists from Mongolia and Turkmenistan performed a joint gala concert at the State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet.

This was the first State Visit by the President of Turkmenistan to Mongolia since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The Distinguished Guest was seen off by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia Battsetseg Batmunkh, non-resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to Turkmenistan Bayarkhuu Dorj, non-resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Mongolia Durdyev Parakhat, and other officials.
