The visit, undertaken in accordance with the directives and follow-up of His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Ports, Customs and Free Zones Authority, included a meeting with His Excellency Brigadier General Abdulrahman bin Amer Al Kiyumi, Commander of Al Buraimi Governorate Police, to discuss strengthening coordination and cooperation between the two sides.
The visit was conducted in accordance with the directives and follow-up of His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Qasimi.
Enhancing cooperation
The meeting aimed to enhance coordination and cooperation between the two sides. The visit programme included a coordination meeting attended by representatives from the Omani police, passports, and customs, along with the Ministry of Agriculture, Sharjah Fish Resources Authority and the Ministry of Energy and Minerals. The Sharjah delegation included representatives from the General Directorate of Ports, Sharjah Police General Command, Sharjah Customs, the General Directorate of Customs and Ports Security, the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, and Al Madam Municipality.
During the meeting, discussions focused on ways to enhance cooperation between Al Madam and Al Rawda border crossings, and operational aspects related to integrating procedures and standardising work mechanisms. This aims to facilitate the movement of goods, improve performance efficiency, and streamline trade between the two brotherly countries.
Both sides also reviewed the preparations at the two crossings to activate customs clearance procedures for commercial goods and plant and animal shipments, starting Monday, February 9th, reflecting their operational readiness for the upcoming phase.
Strong fraternal relations
This visit comes within the framework of the strong fraternal relations that unite the United Arab Emirates and the sisterly Sultanate of Oman, and in implementation of the recommendations of the Follow-up Committee emanating from the UAE-Oman Joint Committee, contributing to the provision of advanced customs services, the provision of necessary facilities, and the enhancement of trade exchange between the two countries.
At the conclusion of the visit, the Director of Ports and Border Points Affairs presented a symbolic gift to the Commander of the Al Buraimi Governorate Police, namely a copy of the Encyclopedia of Omani History entitled “Sultan of Histories,” a comprehensive historical encyclopedia documenting the history of the Sultanate of Oman in four volumes, authored by His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
