Heartbreaking new details have emerged about how Rob and Michele Reiner‘s bodies were found as their official cause of death was revealed.
Multiple US media outlets have this morning quoted the County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner as revealing the cause of both deaths as multiple sharp force injuries, and noted the manner of death was homicide.
It comes as new details emerge about the discovery of the Reiners‘ bodies as two of the Hollywood couple’s heartbroken children released a statement about their deaths.
The New York Times quoted a “person close to the family” who said a massage therapist who arrived at the couple’s Brentwood home for an appointment was the first to raise the alarm.
After she was unable to gain access for the appointment on Sunday, she contacted the couple’s daughter, Romy, who lives nearby.
It was Romy who entered the house and found Rob Reiner’s body. She then reportedly “fled the house in anguish” without realising her mother was also dead.
She then phoned her roommate who accompanied her back to the home and called emergency services, who then discovered Michele Reiner’s body elsewhere in the home.

Romy, 28, is the youngest of the couple’s three children. They also shared Jake, 34, and Nick, 32, who has since been charged with his parents’ murder.
He was arrested in Los Angeles in the hours after their bodies were discovered and charged with two counts of first-degree murder on Tuesday.
He appeared in court for the first time on Wednesday, where he waived his right to enter a plea.
The update comes as Jake and Romy overnight released a heartbreaking statement about the death of their parents, who they described as their ‘best friends’.
“Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day,” the siblings said in a statement shared with People and Page Six.
“The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience.
“They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends.”
The siblings, who did not mention their brother, said they were “grateful for the outpouring of condolences, kindness, and support we have received not only from family and friends but people from all walks of life”.

“We now ask for respect and privacy, for speculation to be tempered with compassion and humanity, and for our parents to be remembered for the incredible lives they lived and the love they gave,” they said.
Rob, 78, was an actor best known for playing Mike in the 1970s sitcom All in the Family followed by roles in hit films Throw Momma from the Train, Sleepless in Seattle and The First Wives Club.
He also made a memorable appearance in The Wolf of Wall Street.
He made his directorial film debut with the famed 1984 mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap, before going on to direct some of the biggest films of the ’80s and ’90s, including Stand by Me, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally…, Misery, A Few Good Men and The American President.
He had been married to Michele, 68, a photographer and film producer, since 1989.
They reportedly met that year on the set of When Harry Met Sally… and it was that meeting that inspired him to revise the film’s ending to the happy-ever-after-scenario that it is known for.
The couple’s deaths caused an outpouring of grief from their many famous friends, including Billy Crystal, who was reportedly the first person Romy called after finding her father’s body.
