This is the third business in the Downtown Greensboro area closing for good.
GREENSBORO, N.C. — Another local business is shutting its doors for good.
RED Cinemas announced its closure to employees and the public on Thursday, Jan. 29, effective immediately. The closure was due to lingering COVID impacts, including limited attendance and ticket sales, according to a notice of closure given to employees.
The owner of RED Cinemas also cited operating costs like rent, utilities, distribution fees and labor have gone up, and running the theater is no longer financially sustainable.
The theater made a heartfelt post to their Facebook announcing the closure.
“Thank you for the years of support and memories. We will miss the thrill of blockbuster premieres, the discovery of indie films, the conversations sparked afterward, and the energy that filled our lobby and theater,” wrote RED Cinemas.
