The Qatar Chamber hosted a delegation from the Philippine Ministry of Trade and Industry, headed byBianca Pearl R. Sykimte, Director of the Export Marketing Bureau on Monday. The delegation was received by Mohammed bin Twar Al Kuwari, First Vice-Chairman of the Qatar Chamber, in the presence of Ambassador of the Rep Philippines toQatarHE Mardomel Celo D. Melicor,, along with several businessmen from both sides.
In his remarks,Mohammed bin Twar emphasised the distinguished relations between Qatar and the Philippines, noting that the volume of trade exchange reached nearly QAR 674 million in 2024, reflecting the steady growth of bilateral economic ties.
He pointed out that the Qatar Chamber views the Philippines as a key economic partner in Southeast Asia and commended the active contribution of the Filipino community to Qatar’s development.
He also affirmed the Chamber’s commitment to enhancing cooperation between the business communities of both countries and opening new horizons for joint investments that serve mutual interests.
Bin Twar called on Qatari and Filipino companies to explore partnership opportunities for joint projects across various sectors, particularly in food security and personal care products.For his part, Ambassador of the Philippines toQatarHE Mardomel Celo D. Melicor, praised the close relations between the two countries, noting that his country is keen to strengthen these ties across various fields and views Qatar as a gateway to GCC states.
He explained that the visit of the Philippine delegation aims to translate mutual interest into tangible partnerships between the two sides. He added that Philippine companies are seeking to export food and personal care products to the Qatari market, calling on Qatari businessmen to invest in the Philippines.Meanwhile, Bianca Pearl R. Sykimte delivered a presentation highlighting investment opportunities, the business climate, and key Philippine food products targeted for the Qatari market.
Additionally, representatives from Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health gave an overview of the food hygiene sector and the rigorous food safety verification processes required for imports.
