Global pop sensation Omar Rudberg is embracing his heritage like never before with his bold new single ‘Malandro’ — OUT NOW via Atlantic Records / TEN Music Group. The track arrives as a swaggering, rhythm-driven ode to his Latin roots — and to the “mischievous energy” that defines its title.

In Venezuelan slang, malandro refers to someone “unreliable and dangerous — the kind of person you know you shouldn’t get too close to.” But in Rudberg’s hands, the word becomes a metaphor for freedom, flirtation, and self-expression. “The language and expressions from Venezuela have always been a natural part of me,” he says. “For me, it’s not about imitating anyone else — it’s about letting that side of me shine through in the music.”
Built on a pulsing beat that blends sleek pop production with Latin rhythmic flair, the songmarks a new chapter in Rudberg’s sonic evolution. Fans of his earlier singles like ‘Mi Casa Su Casa’ and ‘Call Me By Your Name’ will recognise the pop polish, but ‘Malandro’ hits deeper — fuelled by Spanish-language hooks, choral layers, and a swaggering groove that feels straight out of Caracas nightlife.
Commenting on the construction of the track, co-written with Dan Gleyzer, Rachel West and Sizzy Rocket, Omar explains: “The choir part came to me in Spanish completely naturally, without any planning. I’ve shown Latin American influences in my music before, and this song is another way for me to connect to my roots and show who I am.”

The release of the song also coincides with Rudberg’s European tour supporting Zara Larsson, where he’s expected to debut the single live. Already, ‘Malandro’ has made waves online, climbing to #1 on iTunes Sweden and sparking viral TikTok clips showcasing its danceable hook.
Omar Rudberg first rose to prominence as part of the boyband FO&O, later gaining international fame through his role as Simon Eriksson in Netflix’s Young Royals. With ‘Malandro’, he continues to redefine himself — not just as a heartthrob actor or pop export, but as an artist proudly reclaiming his Latin identity on a global stage.
