Oman Participates in Arab Meeting in
Jordan
Amman, 18 Dec 2025 (ONA) — The
Sultanate of Oman today took part in the 45th regular session of the Council of Arab
Ministers for Social Affairs, held in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
Oman’s delegation was headed by Dr.
Laila bint Ahmed Al Najjar, Minister of Social Development.

The meeting discussed the social aspects
of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), most notably the eradication of
poverty and the promotion of rights of persons with disabilities, integrated
social protection, care of the elderly and family and childhood issues.
The meeting also dealt with the Arab
roadmap for establishing a comprehensive and sustainable Arab welfare economy and the
role of the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, in addition to the schedule
of programmes, projects and activities of the Council of Arab Ministers of
Social Affairs during 2026.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Dr.
Laila participated in a high-level Arab conference on “Implementing the
Declaration of the Second World Summit for Social Development”. The conference
comprised five sessions that addressed the social and developmental messages of
the Doha Declaration issued by the Second World Summit for Social Development,
as well as Arab-UN cooperation towards implementing the political declaration.
The conference also discussed ways
to achieve comprehensive inclusion and empowerment of disadvantaged social segments,
the irradiation of all forms of poverty and approaches to implementing
the Doha Declaration.
