Yesterday’s Tokyo Auto Salon showcased one of the rarest creations running from Toyota with the GR Yaris Morizo RR that got unveiled to Nissan and others. Nissan brought a new Aura Nismo RS concept, a hatchback, and its body creates an aggressive appearance.
The Nissan Aura Nismo RS is based on the standard Note Aura Nismo, and this one is the racy version of the Aura Note. It features flared fenders, which make this car 5.7 inches wider, also creating dramatic vents that sit behind the sporty front wheels. Compared to the standard Nismo, this one sits 0.8 inches lower, which enhances its muscular stance.

It doesn’t end there; it also has an extreme front splitter, and the side skirts are beefed up with blade-looking elements located behind the front wheels. Coming to its rear, plugging fenders move out below a full-width taillight, piling up on a huge rear diffuser. There is also a large spoiler on the rear back roof, which will improve downforce and minimize drag.
Under its hood, the Aura Nismo RS concept is fitted with the e-power hybrid powertrain derived from the X-Trail Nismo or Rogue in the USA. In the description, the E power system is series-hybrid, where the engine provides energy that charges the batteries and powers the motors, which turn the wheels.
All the powertrain setup includes a 201-horsepower e-motor on the front and a 134-horsepower e-motor at the rear. It also features a 142-horsepower 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine.
To improve cornering, Nissan fitted high-grip tires and retuned the e-4ORCE all-wheel-drive system. The front brakes have four pistons for the front, and the rear features two pistons; this improves and provides better braking.

If it goes out of production, the Aura Nismo RS will be only for Japan, but Nissan has confirmed the e-power hybrid system will be in the US in the near future; it may sometimes come with a Nismo-branded performance model. Ax for now, Nissan is investing in the development of sporty hybrids.
