A Massachusetts man was arrested on Saturday night after his car ran out of gas while fleeing from New Hampshire State Police.
Just before 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, a state police trooper patrolling Interstate 93 in Windham saw a white BMW X2 traveling north at a high rate of speed. The trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver increased speed, and a pursuit ensued.
During the pursuit, the driver of the BMW got off I-93 north at Exit 4 in Londodnerry. The driver then got back on I-93 southbound, continuing at a high rate of speed. While heading south, the driver took the off ramps at Exit 3 and Exit 2, crossing intersections each time before continuing down on-ramps back to I-93.
The BMW eventually ran out of gas near mile marker 1.8 on I-93 south in Salem, where troopers took the driver and two occupants into custody.
The driver, identified by police as 25-year-old Rafy VIlla, of Lawrence, Massachusetts, was charged with reckless conduct with a deadly weapon, disobeying an officer and numerous other violations, including driving after suspension. He was released on personal recognizance and is scheduled to be arraigned in Salem District Court on Feb. 19.
The two other occupants of the vehicle were released without charges.
The BMW was also seized pending further investigation.
