Mower County placed into a tornado watch

Apr. 28—Due to the likelihood of impending storms later this evening, the National Weather Service has placed a number of Minnesota counties, including Mower County, into a tornado watch deep into the evening.

The watch will go through to 11 p.m. and also includes Dodge, Steele and Freeborn counties.

Rain and thunderstorms are possible this afternoon, with the main threat for severe weather coming tonight, mostly before midnight.

Between a quarter of an inch and a half an inch of rain is possible.
