
PORTSMOUTH — A man was killed and an infant was wounded in a shooting early Saturday afternoon.
Just after 12 p.m., police responded to a call about shots fired in the 3800 block of Towne Point Road. That’s in a residential area near the Western Freeway. When officers arrived, they found a man with gunshot wounds, according to a release. Officers attempted life-saving measures, but he died at the scene. A 5-month-old was hit by gunfire, police said, and is at a local hospital for treatment. The infant is expected to recover, police said.
Police have not released the identity of the man who was killed.
Police said they are investigating the shooting as a homicide and no other information has been released.
