
Police are searching for the driver who they say struck and killed a man and his dog in the Sherman Oaks area Tuesday night.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the hit-and-run occurred at the 4400 block of Woodman Avenue at around 11:30 p.m.
The 80-year-old man was walking his dog in the bicycle lane near Moorpark Street when a car that was driving in a northbound direction struck the man and his dog.
The man was transported to a local hospital where he later died. The man’s dog, described as a Rottweiler, was found dead under an SUV along Woodman Avenue, LAPD said.
Police said that witnesses at the scene provided them with a description of the car, which they found nearby at the 4500 block of N. Mammoth Avenue. with damage to the front end as well as the windshield.
The driver has not been found but police say the silver Maserati was not stolen.
The investigation is ongoing.
