The Porsche 911 Dakar and Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato are pretty cool. They allow the wealthy to venture off road in sportscar to enjoy powerful machines where there is no tar. However, both are horrendously expensive and were produced in limited numbers. Enter the Kuhl Outroad GR86 for those who want the thrills but have a limited budget.

Foreshadowing
We had a brief view of what a GR86 off-r0ader would look like when Toyota created its own homage to rally cars of years gone by. The model was shown at the 2024 Sema Show in Las Vegas. High-Up and Rugged
The Kuhl Outroad GR86 wears a rugged body kit that adds to its off-road credentials. Among these are restyled bumpers. Black plastic overfenders, a front bash plate and new, vented bonnet, among others. In addition the car has a ducktail spoiler, louvres on the rear window and a roof rack with an LED laight bar.

Most notable is the raised ride height, which is made possible by a custom coilover suspension. As a result, the Kuhl Outroad GR86 rides 75 mm higher than standard. A set of chunky, off-roady tyres are fitted to custom, two-piece 18-inch alloys with a full-size spare on the roof.
More Power and Control
The Kuhl Outroad GR86 isn’t all show without any added go. Kuhl has turbocharged the 2,4-litre boxer engine. As a result the engine now produces just over 215 kW, which is a significant rise over the 174 kW made by the standard engine. Kuhl has fitted a high-performance LSD in place of the standard item as well as bigger brakes.
