A massive fire at Karachi’s Gul Plaza has claimed at least 10 lives, with rescuers recovering four more bodies overnight. The blaze, which started late Saturday, swept through shops selling cosmetics, garments, and plastic goods, spreading quickly across the multistory building. Firefighters brought the fire under control nearly 24 hours later, allowing rescue teams to search for the dozens of people reported missing. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said about 60 people were still unaccounted for, prompting a large-scale search operation. Relatives gathered outside the heavily damaged building in anguish. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and police have launched an investigation. Karachi has faced deadly fires in the past due to poor safety and illegal construction.
