It was a very special day for all FC Barcelona supporters, including club president Joan Laporta. After the Super Cup final, the president also addressed culers around the world, praising the team’s “spectacular football on such a great occasion”.
“This squad is a real family” he continued. “They’re very generous. The players offered me the chance to lift the trophy and I didn’t hesitate. Moments like that make you feel part of it all.”
Reflecting on the match itself, Laporta stressed that “there are no favourites in a final. We started very well, then we conceded, but the team never dropped their heads.”
Asked about individual performances, including that of Raphinha, Laporta insisted on putting the collective first: “The most important thing is the group. This team’s real strength is its team spirit.”
He also took the opportunity to thank “the sporting department, Hansi Flick and his entire staff, as well as the players … They were desperate to win because it was a final, and they rose to the occasion. We came here to live this moment and to make Barça fans all over the world enjoy a Super Cup that projects us globally.”
