Hispanitas is a Spanish footwear brand that is getting increasingly committed to becoming more environmentally and socially committed while it aims to expand further globally.
The brand was born 35 years ago, despite its origins being deeply rooted in leather shoe manufacturing since 1929.
Hispanitas brand was founded in 1990 by Francisco Chico de Guzman, part of the second generation of the family company, after he developed, manufactured, and exported pioneering tubular moccasins, also known as “Kiowas.”

The brand, now managed by the family’s third and fourth generations—Luis, Carlo, and Pablo Chico de Guzman—offers a vast selection of footwear, mostly aimed at women, manufactured in Spain and, for a smaller percentage, in Portugal. It uses Made in Spain leather and promotes local work by collaborating with five factories all located in Spain near Alicante and two in Portugal.
Distinguishing elements of the brand include values like Made in Spain, quality, and comfort, along with clear design and distinctive elements that characterize each style of the collection and varage prices around €150 at retail.
Hispanitas’ exports account for 70% of its sales, selling through a total of 60 countries, though mostly counting on Europe. Among foreign countries, Benelux ranks as first, followed by France, Portugal, Austria, and Germany, along with Latin America (mostly in Mexico), China, The US, Japan, and Australia.
Its is mostly selling via wholesale through 4,500 doors worldwide, along with seven monobrand stores in Spain and 15 in China.

The company is strongly committed to following a sustainable path. They started it by launching their sustainable sneaker, Model 001, made with environmentally friendly materials like, for instance, three fabrics made with 100% recycled polyester and another material made from over 51% RPET. An inner removable sole all shoes carry is made with 90% recycled PU, despite some models also being completed with a chrome-free vegan lining.
Also noteworthy is the fact that 100% of their shoes’ packaging is made with recycled materials, while specialised companies like Sapesa Servicios Integrales manage their production waste collection and management.
Not less important is the company’s commitment to socially responsible causes, as they are involved in reducing social and work inequalities and supporting local people with disabilities to boost inclusivity.

They also promote the cultural value of manufacturing shoes in their country by partnering with movie festival initiatives like, for instance, the 73rd Goya Awards, the San Sebastian Film Festival, and the Malaga Film Festival.
