Grenada and South Panola have officially played high school football coach swap.
Less than a month after Michael Fair headed about 45 minutes north to try to restore a once nationally-renowned program in South Panola to its former glory, Grenada has tabbed the Tigers’ previous frontman to lead the Chargers. Brooks Oakley comes to Grenada after spending four seasons with the Tigers.
At South Panola, Oakley compiled an overall record of 35-12 before stepping down from his post. Oakley’s team was perfect in region play during the 2025 campaign, but was ultimately on the wrong end of a first-round exit in the 6A playoffs falling to Neshoba Central 28-27. Prior to his time in Batesville, the longtime football coach spent six years as the head man at Senatobia, his alma mater, where he made a 4A state championship appearance in 2021.
Oakley inherits a Grenada team that won big the past three seasons, including a 6A state title victory in 2024, and will look to keep the momentum rolling.
