New York Giants rookie running back Cam Skattebo suffered a gruesome ankle injury during Sunday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
He sustained the injury when his right leg and ankle bent awkwardly while being tackled on a leaping catch attempt over the middle of the field. Players on both teams showed immediate concern. FOX declined to show a replay of the injury during the game broadcast due to its graphic nature.
Skattebo was carted off the field with his leg in an air cast. He received a show of support from the Philadelphia crowd, which gave him a standing ovation.

The Giants announced that Skattebo was ruled out with an ankle injury.
The 23-year-old, along with rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, has helped rejuvenate the Giants organization this season. Selected in the fourth round of the draft out of Arizona State, Skattebo entered Sunday’s game with 398 rushing, 189 receiving yards and six total touchdowns, celebrating each score with his trademark backflip.
He added another receiving touchdown Sunday on an 18-yard catch from Dart that pulled the Giants even with the Eagles at 7-7 in the first quarter.
He suffered the injury with just over eight minutes remaining in the second quarter.
His absence is another crushing blow to the Giants offense, which earlier this season lost star wide receiver Malik Nabers after he suffered a torn ACL.
Here are five things to know about New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart.
