A 31-year-old Iranian man has been arrested as part of the counter-terror investigation in which another three Iranian men were detained.

Three men, aged 39, 44 and 55, were arrested on Saturday, 3 May, as part of the investigation.

Warrants of further detention have been sought and obtained for them today, meaning the three men can be detained until Saturday, 17 May, police said.

In a separate operation on Saturday, counter-terror officers arrested five men – who are also Iranian nationals – as they swooped in on various locations around the country.

The Met said those arrests related to a “suspected plot to target a specific premises”.

All are in police custody.
