Dubai’s biggest airlines have cancelled several flights to a neighbouring country.
Emirates has cancelled flights to the Iranian capital of Tehran on Friday January 9 and Saturday January 10.
And flydubai has cancelled all flights to Iran on Friday January 9 – including routes to Tehran, Mashhad, Shiraz, Bandar Abbas and Lar.
No official reasons for the flight cancellations have been provided at this time, but travellers should check the status of their flight here if they are due to fly this weekend.

Emirates has cancelled some flights to the Iranian capital on Friday January 9 and Saturday January 10. However, the world’s largest international airline’s 7.45am flight on Saturday is still scheduled for travel.

flydubai has cancelled all flights to Iran from Dubai International Airport on Friday January 9. Flights are still currently scheduled for travel on Saturday January 10 but this could change.

A flydubai spokesperson said: “flydubai flights to Iran on January 9 2026 have been cancelled.
“We are in direct contact with passengers whose travel plans have been affected. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and revise our flight schedule accordingly.
“Customers are advised to contact the flydubai Contact Centre in Dubai at (+971) 600 54 44 45, visit the flydubai travel shop, or reach out to their respective travel agent for rebooking options.
“Customers are also advised to update their contact details by visiting the Manage your booking section and to regularly check the status of their flights on flydubai.com.”
