Divinity Wellness set to open on Glenburnie Road | News
A pair of long-time friends from the Fort Barnwell community will achieve their shared dream of opening a small business in New Bern Saturday.
Divinity Wellness Self-Care studio will host its Halloween Spooktacular Grand Opening on Saturday, at 1916 S. Glenburnie Road, Suite 7, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The family-friendly event will have music, games, prizes, vendors and food trucks, as well as promotions and giveaways. Halloween costumes are encouraged, but not required.
Vendors will include Loaf Thy Neighbor, which sells homemade breads and baked goods, Occult Kitten Collection that sells crystal and crystal jewelry, Bear Feet Pilates, Icy Bites, Healing Hands Massage and Energy Work, Not Your Dumb Blonde Hair Studio, Sacred Shell Healing, Katie’s Elderberry Syrup and Nicole’s Herbal Remedies.
T-Mobile of Havelock will provide music and El Taco Loco Food Truck will sell food. Nothing Bundt Cakes will have limited free samples available.
Rebecca Hobson, co-owner of Divinity Wellness, said she hopes the grand opening will help the business.
“We’re really just trying to put ourselves out there to the community,” Hobson said. “We’re not just some random businesses trying to take your money, we’re actually trying to build community.”
Nicole Bland and Hobson started working on Divinity Wellness last year, which Hobson said will offer services designed to heal the body and mind.
“We’re looking to offer things to people that we think they need right now, which is both being spiritually sound and physically healthy,” Hobson said. “You can’t have good physical health without good spiritual health, and that comes with the healing of the mind, so we want to offer things to do that as well.”
The sculpt pod is the main service that Bland and Hobson will offer at Divinity Wellness.
Hobson said the sculpt pod is designed to promote physical and mental health through a patented three-step process that uses red light therapy, vibration and heat. She said it works to create the generation of collagen, help with pain relief and improve overall well-being. The sculpt pod also works to
“It’s actually recommended for pain management patients and studies show that it actually helps with depression directly,” Hobson said.
Although Divinity Wellness is starting with the sculpt pod, Hobson said the self-care studio will have other services available, like hairdresser services offered by Not Your Dumb Blonde.
Bland and Hobson are looking to bring in people who offer reiki services, which are a Japanese form of energy healing; oracle readings; massage therapy; and aesthetics services, which are designed to enhance beauty.
The studio currently has two independent contractor spaces available for aestheticians, massage therapists or health and wellness coaches with a background in energy work.
Hobson said they have built a network of people who work in spiritual health and medicine who they plan to invite to Divinity Wellness on occasion to provide services.
“The whole package is what we’re looking for, just self-care” Hobson said. “You’re going to feel pretty, look healthy and feel healthy.”
Divinity Wellness also plans to provide an area in the studio where business owners and creators can sell their products.
Bland has her own small business, Nicole’s Herbal Remedies, an herbal medicine store. Her array of fire cider, calendula salves and herbal lip balms will be sold at Divinity Wellness.
Hobson said they are looking to work with some of the vendors that plan to the attend the grand opening of Divinity Wellness on Saturday, like Sacred Shell Healing and Loaf Thy Neighbor.
Bland and Hobson have been friends since they were 7 years old and always dreamed of opening a business together.
“Now that we’re older and we’ve grown up together and we’ve both watched each other change, we’ve come to realize this is what we need to do,” Hobson said. “This is what we’ve been led to do and this is where we’re really going to help the community.”
Bland works as a manager at a beauty supply store in New Bern, while Hobson works as a respiratory therapist at CarolinaEast Medical Center and a local doctor’s office. Bland is a single mother of two children and Hobson also has two children with her husband.
Divinity Wellness will be open by appointment only. Once Bland and Hobson have a fully trained staff, the business will advertise regular business hours and accept appointments.
Hobson said she the Divinity Wellness website is expected to be live before the grand opening on Saturday.
