As filming for the much-anticipated fourth season of ‘The White Lotus’ is set to start in April 2026, we take a look at the French property where part of the popular HBO-series will be set. Discover the Château de La Messardière, a luxury hotel located in Saint-Tropez on the Côte d’Azur.
Although little has been revealed so far about the upcoming fourth season of ‘The White Lotus’, a lot has been going on behind the scenes already. According to the American magazine Variety, filming will debut at the end of April 2026 and will go on for months.
And at least one of the new season’s main locations has been revealed already. Contrary to the previous instalments, where Four Seasons resort locations across the globe were used as luxurious backdrops for the series, the upcoming season will be filmed at least partly at a five-star hotel belonging to the Airelles Collection.
The Château de La Messardière, as the hotel is called, is located in Saint-Tropez on the Côte d’Azur. According to the hotel’s website, it was built in the 19th century as a wedding gift from Gabriel Dupuy d’Angeac, a wealthy cognac merchant, to his daughter Louise Dupuy D’Angeac and her husband, cavalry officer Henry Brisson de La Messardière.
Over the years, it changed hands multiple times and fell into decay until 1989, when it was under the guidance of Jean-Claude Rochette, chief architect of France’s Monuments Historiques (Historical Monuments). In 2019, the châteaux joined the Airelles Collection, culminating in a grand reopening in July 2021.
From palace to hotel
Today, the palace-turned-hotel features about 12 hectares of lush grounds, splendid views over the surrounding area, and 86 rooms and suites. Aside from sea views, the interior is bathed in a luxurious style, featuring marble bathrooms and detailed wallpaper, among other things. A spa, beach access by Rolls-Royce transfer, restaurants, swimming pool, and children’s camp complete the offer.
In order to enjoy all that luxury, guests do, however, need to pay quite a bit of money. Prices for one night seem to start around €3,000 euros and can go well over the €10,000 mark when opting for some of the most spacious on-site residences. The hotel reopens its doors to the public on 24 April 2026 for the summer season.
Whether or not the luxurious hotel will benefit from the so-called ‘White Lotus effect’ as previous filming locations have, remains to be seen, but with other filming locations said to be spread all over the French Riviera, it would certainly make for a great spot to discover the area.
