KUWAIT CITY, Jan 29: The Criminal Court issued several rulings this week in several high-profile cases that have drawn public attention. In the case involving X platform user Ahmed Al-Shulaimi, Judge Dr. Khaled Al-Omeira postponed the issuance of the verdict until Feb 11. Al-Shulaimi is accused of spreading false news and misusing his mobile phone, charges which he denied when he appeared in court.
In another case, the court ordered the release of Dr. Fahad Al-Shulaimi on bail set at KD1,000. He is facing charges of insulting Yemen through social media platforms, an accusation he denied. The court scheduled the pronouncement of the verdict in his case for March 4.
Meanwhile, a Kuwaiti woman and her expatriate husband, both social media influencers, were released on bail of KD5,000 each. Their trial, in which they are suspected of drug use and money laundering, was adjourned until Feb 11.
