Turkish star Can Yaman has signed on for a Spanish-language romantic thriller series. The as-yet-unnamed project will be produced by Madrid-based Secuoya Studios and run to eight episodes. It will be Yaman’s first Spanish-language project and first series shot in Spain.
Here’s what we know about the plot. The show will follow a secret agent with an impeccable record who is betrayed and becomes the most wanted man in Spain. As he struggles to clear his name and unmask those who intend to perpetrate a billion-dollar robbery of the state coffers, he will discover that love may be his greatest weakness… or salvation.
Eduardo Galdo (The Crossroad) came up with the idea and will exec produce alongside Lele Portas (Heridas). Ángela Obón (4 Stars) and Daniel Corpas (When Nobody Sees Us) are the writers. The title and other cast, which is expected to be largely Spanish, will be announced soon.
“Working in Spain for the first time is an incredibly special experience for me,” Yaman said. “I have always felt a deep connection with the Spanish audience, and being able to film here—in their language and alongside such a talented team—is truly a dream come true.”
Brendan Fitzgerald, CEO of Secuoya Studios, said: “Having Can Yaman at the helm of its first Spanish-language series, backed by an exceptional technical and artistic team, reaffirms our mission to create high-quality content with global reach.”
Secuoya will be hoping to its new series repeats the success of The Crossroad, which is the most-watched Spanish fiction premiere of the year on Antena 3.
