Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has revealed that young star Lamine Yamal is still struggling with recurring pain in his pelvis, noting that the player continues to feature in matches despite not having fully recovered from the injury that sidelined him for several games in recent weeks.
Yamal had missed several fixtures for Barcelona and was also left out of Spain’s squad during the last international break due to the same issue. He has since made a gradual return, rediscovering part of his form and playing a key role in Barça’s 3–1 win over Elche, scoring an early goal just nine minutes into the match.
Flick on Yamal’s injury: “The situation isn’t ideal, but we’re dealing with it.”
The young winger’s goal came after a precise assist from Alejandro Balde. Yamal controlled the ball inside the box, outplayed a defender with impressive skill, and fired a powerful left-footed strike into the net, giving Barcelona the perfect start to the game.
Speaking after the match, Flick said:
“Lamine Yamal is handling his injury with great discipline. He’s a true professional who knows how to balance treatment with daily training. The injury still troubles him from time to time, but it doesn’t stop him from giving his best on the pitch.”
The German coach, who has previously emphasized the need to protect the young player from excessive pressure, added:
“He’s not completely recovered yet. The pain comes and goes, but he’s managing it smartly and responsibly. We’re closely monitoring his medical condition.”
Flick’s comments come at a time when Yamal is also making headlines off the pitch, following reports about his personal life — including a lavish birthday celebration and his recent breakup with Argentine singer Nicki Nicole, which sparked a wave of reactions across social media.
