The Jaguar GT — the donkey of the electric car industry — has reportedly been delayed yet again. Tipped to be called the i-Type, the electric grand tourer is now expected to arrive in 2026. Hardly surprising, given that Jaguar technically no longer exists. Correction: the Jaguar brand was officially retired earlier this year, yet like a movie villain that refuses to die, it continues to stagger on in what feels like a chaotic sequel that makes no sense.
There’s no clear plot for Jaguar’s clumsy transformation into a “luxury EV marque.” In truth, it’s a marked brand — its real value lies only in its name and image rights.
A production version of the Type 00 was supposedly set to be revealed at the end of 2025, but in true Jaguar fashion, that timeline has been pushed back once more, now to an undetermined date in 2026.
If that doesn’t send mixed messages, nothing will. It suggests that development of the so-called i-Type is facing technical setbacks — and likely financial troubles as well.
Even Jaguar itself seems unsure when this “new revolution” will actually happen, issuing contradictory statements to the media: that the car will be unveiled soon, that orders will open immediately after, and that deliveries will follow shortly thereafter.
In other words, expect more delays, minimal media pushback, and a real reveal sometime in 2027. But who knows? It wouldn’t be shocking if Jaguar quietly pulled the plug on this monstrous vanity project altogether. Don’t expect a grand farewell — just a quiet, dignified, and silent end.
