JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – There is a heavy police presence at 21st Street West and Moncrief Road due to an officer involved shooting.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said it started with a stolen vehicle in the Brentwood area.
Police found the vehicle through license plate cameras. They say the suspect sped off and a short pursuit began.
The suspect also hit a police cruiser during the pursuit.
Eventually, police say several people got out of the vehicle and started running. Multiple people were detained at the scene.
However, around 7: 45p.m an officer was chasing after one suspect, who police say, kept putting his hands in his pocket.
JSO says the officer told the suspect to take his hands out of his pocket or he will shoot.
The suspect disobeyed commands.
The officer shot at the suspect multiple times.
After arresting the suspect and rendering aid, they were taken to the hospital.
JSO says the suspect began surgery and is in critical condition.
They said they could not release any names or ages of the suspects at this time.
We also asked if this shooting had anything to do with the earlier shooting that happened on 4200 Brentwood Avenue at 6:15p.m.
