The arrest followed a well-planned ambush that resulted in the confiscation of several animals protected under international agreements, including a group of endangered lynx and foxes, species whose trade is prohibited.
The animals were transferred to a nature reserve in coordination with the Environment and Protected Areas Authority in Sharjah and the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment. The suspect was referred to the Public Prosecution to complete the legal procedures against him.
Sharjah Police emphasized its commitment to combating such practices, which threaten the ecological balance, and called on members of the community to cooperate and report any suspected cases related to the possession or trafficking of protected animals, in support of the country’s efforts to protect the environment and wildlife.
