After a shocking attack on WWE SmackDown weeks ago, a major championship match got added to the “Saturday Night’s Main Event” card with Tiffany Stratton defending her WWE Women’s Championship against Jade Cargill.
The two women nearly got into another altercation on last night’s episode of SmackDown, prompting general manager Nick Aldis to demand that security intervene. Tiffany tried to launch herself at Jade, but security held her back, and Aldis told her backstage that he didn’t want any further damage to her knee.
Jade previously turned heel against Tiffany in the ring and then viciously attacked her, including targeting her knee outside the ring with the steel steps. Despite Aldis suggesting Tiffany might not be able to compete, she wanted the match.
She had a visible limp during the earlier camera shots as various competitors entered the arena, suggesting it could play a significant factor in her championship defense. As expected, it did hamper the champion quite a bit throughout the match, with Jade wisely exploiting that injury she caused weeks ago.

With Tiffany’s knee heavily taped, Jade immediately took advantage by delivering kicks and attacks to her injury to take her down. She once again placed Tiffany on the ring steps for a damaging attack, but it worked against her as Tiffany tripped Jade face-first into the steps.
Despite Tiffany’s best attempts at fighting while hobbled, Jade ultimately gained the upper hand with repeated powerbomb moves to the mat. She finished off with her powerful Jaded finisher for the final pinfall to become the brand new WWE Women’s Champion.
Jade, the former inaugural TBS Champion in Tony Khan’s All Elite Wrestling (AEW), now secures her first individual championship in WWE. She previously held the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship with Bianca Belair.
Tiffany’s reign as WWE Women’s Champion ends at 302 days. She previously won the championship with her Money in the Bank briefcase cash-in on Nia Jax at SummerSlam 2024.
