Arshad Warsi is known for his candour and wit, and in his latest conversation with content creator Raj Shamani, the actor once again showed his trademark honesty. Reflecting on his career choices, Warsi admitted that not all of his films have made him proud — even pointing out one of his most talked-about projects, Jaani Dushman: Ek Anokhi Kahani (2002).

Arshad Warsi admits he’s ‘not proud’ of Jaani Dushman: Ek Anokhi Kahani; says “My movies are terrible; they usually offend everybody”
Speaking about his filmography, Arshad said, “My movies are terrible; they usually offend everybody. I don’t want to say all these things, but I have done some films which I am not proud of. One very famous film that is in that list is a film called Jaani Dushman. Armaan Kohli’s father, Rajkumar Kohli, is one of the nicest people in the industry. When he called you for a film, most actors would say yes. Purely because of the kind of person he was.”
The actor went on to explain that his decision to do the film was driven by financial needs at the time. “I was still new in the industry, so I wasn’t aware of his reputation. I just needed the money. Maria and I were building a house, but after buying it we had no money left to actually build something. We were collecting money from wherever we could. I mean, the terrace of my home could be constructed because of Jaani Dushman,” he revealed candidly.
Sharing more about his experience working with the film’s director, Rajkumar Kohli, Arshad added, “I realised that he (Rajkumar) was a very nice man. He was very different from any of the other people in the industry. He never gave you any trouble regarding money, never. If he calls you and tells you a schedule, he will never waver from it. Your fees would reach you before you had to even ask for it. That is why almost everybody has done a film with him.”
The actor also shared a light-hearted anecdote about the chaotic production of the film, saying, “When he (Rajkumar) asked me to make it, I told him to kill me off first. He didn’t agree with me, and on the other hand, Akshay Kumar wasn’t ready to be killed off. He kept coming back and kept trying to fit himself into other characters,” the 57-year-old added.
Released in 2002, Jaani Dushman: Ek Anokhi Kahani was a supernatural action film directed by Rajkumar Kohli, known for bringing together a massive star cast including Sunny Deol, Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Arshad Warsi, Sonu Nigam, Aftab Shivdasani, and Manisha Koirala. Despite its high-profile ensemble, the film was panned by critics and audiences alike for its over-the-top storytelling and special effects, later gaining cult status for its unintentional humour.
Arshad’s honest confession has once again endeared him to fans, who appreciate the actor’s grounded nature and his willingness to laugh at his own career missteps — proving why he continues to remain one of Bollywood’s most relatable stars.
