The New York City Board of Elections has released numbers from the first day of early voting, as the five boroughs decide who will replace Eric Adams as mayor.
Unofficial numbers show 79,409 voters checked-in to vote citywide. Manhattan had the most votes cast on day one, with 24,046. In Brooklyn, 22,105 voters took advantage of the first chance to vote, as did 19,045 voters in Queens. 7,793 voters were cast in The Bronx, and 6,420 votes were cast on Staten Island.
Adams dropped out of the race in September and endorsed independent candidate and former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Thursday. Cuomo is running against Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani and Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa.
Early voting will continue in New York City each day through Sunday, Nov. 2. Opening and closing times vary by day.
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 4, when polls will be open from 6AM to 9PM.
