This collaboration aims to make higher levels of autonomy available in everyday vehicles without the high expenses typically involved.
VinFast and Autobrains Partnership
The partnership is focused on upgrading to L2++ autonomous driving systems for upcoming VinFast electric models.
Current VinFast vehicles, such as the VF 8 and VF 9 SUVs, already include Level 2 assistance, which handles steering, acceleration, and braking in certain situations while the driver stays alert. The new L2++ version builds on this by adding more capable features, such as improved highway driving, automated lane changes, and better handling of complex traffic. These upgrades are currently being tested on the VF 8 and VF 9, with plans to expand them across the lineup.
Robo-Car
A key part of the work involves the “Robo-Car” system, which uses only seven regular cameras and a powerful yet compact computer chip. This setup avoids expensive components like LiDAR sensors, multiple radars, or detailed high-definition maps that many other autonomous systems require. As a result, it can provide reliable self-driving capabilities at a lower cost.
How does it effect everyday commutes?
For daily commuters, these developments could mean less stress during rush-hour drives or long highway trips. The car would take over more routine tasks, helping reduce fatigue168 while improving safety through quicker responses to road conditions.
By keeping costs down, this technology has the potential to reach more drivers sooner, making advanced assistance a practical option for regular use rather than a luxury feature.
VinFast plans to roll out these improvements gradually in future models.
