In a celebration of craftsmanship, culture, and creativity, Qatar Museums and M7 have announced Aisha Alattiya as the winner of the Chaumet Tiara Project, a landmark collaboration with the French high jewellery Maison Chaumet and Alfardan Jewellery. Her winning design, titled The Houbara Haven Tiara, will be handcrafted by Chaumet’s master artisans in Paris and unveiled at M7 in 2025.
Launched as a regional call for talent, the initiative invited designers and artists across the MENA region to conceptualize tiaras that reflect the union of their cultural heritage and Chaumet’s deep-rooted love of nature. Open to creatives across various disciplines—including jewellery design, architecture, and applied arts—the project received more than 80 submissions. Eleven promising talents were selected for a masterclass led by Chaumet’s Creative Studio Director, Olga Corsini, held at M7, Doha’s innovation hub for fashion, design, and tech.
Following the masterclass, three finalists—Alattiya, along with architect and fashion designer Zahia Albakri and artist-calligrapher Alanoud Al-Ghamdi—were invited to the iconic Chaumet workshop at Place Vendôme in Paris. There, they immersed themselves in the maison’s history and craftsmanship, meeting with artisans and exploring the intricate art of high jewellery design.
Aisha Alattiya’s winning piece is a tribute to Qatar’s natural and cultural landscapes. Inspired by the desert-dwelling Awsaj plant and the traditions of falconry, The Houbara Haven Tiara beautifully intertwines symbolism and storytelling. Its delicate structure mirrors the spindly branches of the Awsaj—long used in local embroidery—while its blossoms, reminiscent of pearls, nod to Qatar’s pearling legacy. The tiara’s form also evokes the sanctuary provided to the Houbara bird, a revered symbol in the region’s falconry heritage.
