Kansas State (9-8, 0-4 Big 12) hits the road south for Stillwater, Okla., as the Wildcats meet Oklahoma State (13-4, 1-3 Big 12) at historic Gallagher-Iba Arena. Tip is set for 9:05 p.m. and will air nationally on CBS Sports Network with Jordan Kent, Mike O’Donnell and Ashley Moss on the call.
K-State has had a tough go of it at Gallagher-Iba of late with OSU winning 17 of 22 meetings in the Big 12 era. The team has lost back-to-back games in the arena, including a 79-66 loss last season, with the last win coming in 2023. The schools have met every year for 67 consecutive seasons with the Wildcats holding an 88-60 edge all-time and the Cowboys leading 25-21 in the Big 12 era.
K-State is off to a 0-4 start in Big 12 play for the first time since 2021-22 with 2 of those 3 losses coming to No. 10/10 BYU (83-73) at home and No. 1/2 Arizona (101-76) on the road. It marked the first time that the Wildcats have started league play with consecutive Top 10 opponents. The school is trying to avoid starting 0-5 for just the sixth time and the first time since 1996-97.
Getting stops has been a big part of the 0-4 start, with the Wildcats allowing 88.3 points on 48.2 percent shooting with 44.5 points coming in the paint. They also rank last in the Big 12 in defensive rebounds (46.3) and rebound margin (-12.5) with opponents averaging 18.8 second-chance points.
Led by second-year head coach Steve Lutz, the Cowboys are off to a 13-4 start after winning 12 of their first 13 games before opening Big 12 play with a 1-3 record. Much like K-State, 2 of 3 Big 12 losses have come to nationally-ranked opponents on the road at Texas Tech and Iowa State. OSU is one of the top scoring teams at 88.4 points per game with 5 players averaging double figures.
