Vice President JD Vance claimed that ICE shooting victim Renee Nicole Good was a part of a ‘broader left wing network’ in a White House briefing on Thursday.
Good, 37, was shot in the head three times while inside her SUV on Wednesday, sparking mass protests in the streets and outrage from Minnesota lawmakers.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) claimed the shooting was an act of self-defense, but the city’s Democrat Mayor Jacob Frey has blasted ICE’s characterization of the shooting and told them to ‘get the f**k out of Minneapolis.’
‘They are already trying to spin this as an act of self-defense. Having seen the video myself, I wanna tell everybody directly, that is bull****,’ he said.
Superintendent Drew Evans said Thursday that the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension had stepped away from the investigation, with the FBI taking over the case.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz said that ‘people in positions of power’ had made ‘verifiably false, verifiably inaccurate’ conclusions about the case and that ‘Minnesota must be part of this investigation.’
DHS had deployed more than 2,000 officers to the area in what it says is its largest-ever immigration enforcement operation.

Jimmy Kimmel calls Trump a ‘maniac’ for defending ICE agent
Jimmy Kimmel has lashed out at Donald Trump over his defense of an ICE agent who shot a mother-of-three dead in Minneapolis.
In a monologue for his show on Wednesday, Kimmel spoke of the shooting and Trump’s response, calling him a ‘maniac.’
He lambasted Trump’s characterization of Renee’s behavior during her final moments: ‘Now, I saw this video. It didn’t look like anybody got run over to me. It looked to me like a woman got scared, tried to drive away, and they shot her.’
He was quick to add, however, that a ruling on blame was for ‘the court to decide.’
City of Minneapolis releases statement on removal from shooting probe
The City of Minneapolis released a statement on social media addressing the decision of the FBI cutting out Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension investigators from the ICE shooting probe.
‘We are concerned that the investigation is proceeding without state partners, and we are calling for a clear and transparent process that includes state investigating agencies,’ the statement said.
White House launches new AG role to investigate fraud
Vice President JD Vance announced that the Trump administration has created a new Assistant Attorney General position to investigate fraud.
‘We are creating a new Associate Attorney General position who will have nationwide jurisdiction over the issue of fraud,’ he said.
‘That person’s efforts will start and focus primarily in Minnesota, but it is going to be a nationwide effort.
Vance says Renee Nicole Good died in ‘tragedy of her own making’
Vice President JD Vance called the ICE shooting death of Renee Nicole Good is a ‘tragedy of her own making.’
‘You have a woman who aimed her car at a law enforcement officer and pressed on the accelerator. Nobody debates that,’ he said.
‘I can believe that her death is a tragedy while also recognizing that it’s a tragedy of her own making and a tragedy of the far left who has marshaled an entire movement, a lunatic fringe, against our law enforcement officers.’
JD Vance blasts media coverage of Minneapolis ICE shooting
Vice President JD Vance hit out at the media for their coverage of the Minneapolis ICE shooting.
‘The was an attack on federal law enforcement, this was an attack on law and order, this was an attack on the American people. The way that the media, by and large, have reported this story has been an absolute disgrace.’ he said.
ICE agent who killed Renee Nicole Good dragged by car six months ago, JD Vance says
Vice President JD Vance said the ICE agent who shot and killed Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis was previously dragged by a car.
‘That very ICE officer nearly had his life ended, dragged by a car six months ago. 33 stitches in his leg. So you think maybe he is a little bit sensitive about somebody ramming him with an automobile?’ Vance said.
‘She was trying to ram this guy with her car, he shot back. He defended himself; he’s already been seriously wounded in law enforcement operations before, and everybody has been repeating this lie that she was some innocent woman out for a drive.’
FBI investigation could impact state prosecution, Minnesota safety chief says
Minnesota Commissioner of Public Safety Bob Jacobson said the FBI’s decision to cut out state investigators could impact the ability to prosecute the ICE agent.
‘To be able to file state charges, we would need again, a full investigation, which would include the opportunity to have been at the crime scene, to have had the opportunity to take a look at all the video and evidence that the FBI would have in their possession,’ Jacobson said.
‘Unless we do that thorough investigation, unless we have access to all of that evidence, without any of that, we would not be able to put together a quality investigation for any prosecutor to be able to make a determination as to whether or not someone should be charged with a crime.’
Karoline Leavitt blames Democrats for Minneapolis ICE shooting
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt blamed Democrats for spreading rhetoric that lead to the fatal shooting of a woman by an ICE agent in Minneapolis.
‘The deadly incident that took place in Minnesota yesterday occurred as a result of a larger, sinister left-wing movement that has spread across our country where our brave men and women of federal law enforcement are under organized attack,’ she said.
‘Democrats are impeding immigration enforcement operations daily, creating extremely heighten and dangerous circumstances that make it nearly impossible for the men and women of law enforcement to simply do their jobs.’
AG Pam Bondi warns Minnesota protesters who impede federal agents will be prosecuted
Attorney General Pam Bondi warned Minnesota protesters that they will be prosecuted if they impeded federal agents.
‘Peacefully protesting is a sacred American right protected by the First Amendment,’ she wrote on X.
‘Obstructing, impeding, or attacking federal law enforcement is a federal crime. So is damaging federal property.
‘If you cross that red line, you will be arrested and prosecuted. Do not test our resolve.’
Walz begs Trump administration to stop targeting Minnesota
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz begged the Trump administration to leave his state alone.
‘Let us breathe. Look, we’re exhausted. We’re exhausted as Minnesotans. We’re exhausted as Americans,’ he said.
‘And this relentless assault on Minnesota for whatever reason, is just cruel. Now it has reached cruelness. So please just give us a break.’
Walz added, ‘And if it’s me, you’re already getting what you want.’
Renee Nicole Good graduated from Old Dominion University in 2020
Old Dominion University in Virginia confirmed that Renee Nicole Good graduated from the school in 2020.
‘It is with great sadness that Old Dominion University mourns the loss of one of our own, Renee (Macklin) Good, a proud Monarch who graduated in December of 2020 from the College of Arts and Letters with a degree in English,’ University President Brian O. Hemphill wrote in a statement.
‘This is yet another clear example that fear and violence have sadly become commonplace in our nation. Indeed, this tragedy reflects the deep strain being felt in countless communities across our nation.
‘May Renee’s life be a reminder of what unites us: freedom, love, and peace. My hope is for compassion, healing, and reflection at a time that is becoming one of the darkest and most uncertain periods in our nation’s history.’
Walz calls for peaceful protesting and to respect local law enforcement
Governor Tim Walz encouraged peaceful protesting and asked demonstrators to respect local law enforcement.
‘When I saw yesterday some of the anger – whether it’s Minneapolis police, Minnesota State Patrol, Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota National Guard – they are there to protect and serve, as it’s said. They are there to protect Minnesotans,’ he said.
‘Throwing your anger at them only inflames this situation.’
Walz added, ‘Our respect for the First Amendment means we will expect and respect all opinions. If this individual is there expressing support for ICE? That’s their constitutional right to do so, and they need to be protected.’
