Charlamagne Tha God has renewed his podcast deal with iHeartMedia.
The co-host of iHeartMedia New York’s Power 105 syndicated radio show The Breakfast Club and founder of The Black Effect Podcast Network struck the new “multi-year” agreement with the audio giant as his previous five-year deal came to an end.
The deal comes just days after Netflix and iHeartMedia teamed for a deal that will see video podcasts from top iHeartMedia stars running on the streamer. Included in the deal was The Breakfast Club, along with the likes of Dear Chelsea with Chelsea Handler and My Favorite Murder with Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark.
Charlamagne’s Breakfast Club, known for its host’s uninhibited trademark interview style and access to top stars, is now in its 15th year. Co-hosted by DJ Envy, Jess Hilarious, and Loren LoRosa, it is widely considered among the most informative contemporary hip-hop/R&B morning shows, with Charlamagne having interviewed the likes of former Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden, former Vice President Kamala Harris, Jay-Z, Cardi B, Kendrick Lamar, Kevin Hart, Snoop Dogg, Future, 50 Cent, Lizzo, Will Smith and Alicia Keys among others over the years.
The show runs weekdays from 6-10:00 a.m. EST, as well as “Weekends with The Breakfast Club,” alongside co-hosts DJ Envy, Jess Hilarious and Loren LoRosa.
As part of the deal, Charlamagne and iHeartMedia will continue to partner on their joint venture The Black Effect Podcast Network, which focuses on publishing content for Black listeners. It has launched more than 60 shows since its creation five years ago, and generates around 11 million monthly views. The Breakfast Club, which is considered the Network’s flaship show, saw its replay podcast surpass one billion downloads earlier this year.
“When it comes to iHeartMedia, gratitude will always be my attitude,” said Charlamagne. “They’ve created space for me to grow not just as talent, but as an executive and true partner through The Black Effect Podcast Network.
“To say that I’m thankful is an understatement. iHeart is the biggest and best audio company on the planet and audio is the foundation on which the whole media conglomerate will be built. Podcasting, live events, TV/film and documentaries, the sky is the limit for where we are going; and radio will always be at the core of it. Here’s to a new era of growth, impact, and prosperity.”
