EXCLUSIVE: Nearly a decade on from their work together on the Freeform series Pretty Little Liars, Lucy Hale and Ian Harding are reuniting on The Twelve Dates of Christmas, a holiday rom-com from Latigo Films, BuzzFeed Studios, Applewood Studios, CaliWood Pictures and Fortitude International.
Directed by David Lipper, The Twelve Dates of Christmas follows Christina Walker (Hale), a successful shop owner who has devoted her energy to her career at the expense of her dating life. As she finds herself single while watching her younger siblings marry ahead of her, Christina makes a promise to herself: to go on 12 dates in the 12 weeks leading up to Christmas in hopes of finding “Mr. Right.” Along the way, she navigates the often complicated and unpredictable world of online dating, discovering unexpected connections, personal growth, and the true meaning of the season.
Written by Seth Howard and Lipper, the film’s producers include Lipper and Robert A. Daly Jr. under their Latigo Films banner, alongside Ryan Winterstern of Applewood Studios, in collaboration with BuzzFeed Studios led by Richard Alan Reid and Michael Philip. Executive producers include Jared Einsohn, Carter Jenkins, and R. Wesley Sierk III, Audra Gricius, Jina Panebianco and John D. Straley of CaliWood Pictures and Nadine De Barros of Fortitude International, which is handling international sales.
Both Hale and Harding appeared throughout all seven seasons of Pretty Little Liars, a teen mystery–drama airing from 2010 to 2017 that follows four teenage girls whose lives are haunted by an anonymous figure known as “A” after their friend Alison disappears. Hale played one of the girls, Aria Montgomery, with Harding as her English teacher turned love interest, Ezra.
Hale has more recently been seen in films including F*** Marry Kill, Running on Empty and Which Brings Me to You, among others. She is repped by Reel Talent Management and CAA.
Most recently seen in projects like Long Slow Exhale and Holidazed, Harding is repped by Gersh, Authentic Talent and Literary Management, and Yorn, Levine, Barnes.
Lipper is an actor turned filmmaker whose prior directorial credits include The Neglected, Murder at Hollow Creek, Wolf Mountain, and Death Link. He is repped by CAA, Martinez Creative Management, The Characters Talent Agency, Rothman/Andrés Entertainment, and Greenberg Glusker.
