ST. LOUIS — A tornado warning was issued for the northern part of the St. Louis region. The storm is radar indicated. Wind damage and flying debris are the main threats.
The National Weather Service issued the warning for Troy, Elsberry and Winfield, Missouri, until 11 a.m. There have been no on-the-ground reports of damage or tornado touchdown in the area, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol and Troy Police Department.
In addition to the tornado warning, a severe thunderstorm warning was issued for northwestern Calhoun County in southwestern Illinois, southeastern Pike County in west central Illinois, north central Lincoln County and southeastern Pike County until 10:45 a.m.
The line of storms will continue to march east, moving at a rate of 35 miles per hour. Expect rain and storms through the early afternoon.
There are damage reports and reports of power outages associated with the storm in areas west of the St. Louis area.
The evening will be dry, but very windy. Temperatures will drop overnight.
