KUWAIT CITY, Dec 18: The Ministry of Interior has stressed the importance of obtaining official permits from the relevant Iraqi authorities before travelling to Iraq for hunting purposes, warning that failure to do so could result in serious legal consequences.
In a press statement issued to clarify the applicable legal procedures, the ministry noted a recent increase in violations involving citizens who entered Iraqi territory to engage in hunting activities without securing the required authorisations. The ministry described this pattern as a recurring issue that has prompted concern from both Kuwaiti and Iraqi authorities.
According to the statement, individuals who violate Iraqi hunting and weapons regulations are subject to strict legal action by the competent authorities in Iraq. These penalties may include the confiscation of vehicles used during the hunting activity, as well as the seizure of weapons, birds, and all related hunting equipment. In addition, violators may face further legal measures in accordance with Iraqi law.
The ministry further warned that legal action will also be taken against offenders upon their return to the country if they are found to have breached regulations governing the carrying of weapons or engaging in hunting activities abroad without the necessary licenses. Such measures will be implemented in accordance with applicable domestic laws and regulations.
The Ministry of Interior urged all citizens to fully comply with the laws and official instructions in force in Iraq, refrain from repeating such violations, and exercise caution when undertaking activities outside the country. Citizens were also advised to obtain accurate information and guidance from the relevant official authorities before travelling abroad to ensure their personal safety and avoid legal accountability.
