Police have launched an investigation after a Premier League footballer, valued at around £60 million, was allegedly threatened with a gun by a well-known football agent in a shocking confrontation on a busy London street.
According to The Sun, the incident occurred on September 6, when the player, who is in his 20s, was walking with a friend.
The agent, who reportedly represents an England international, is accused of brandishing a firearm “with intent to cause fear or violence.”
Metropolitan Police confirmed they were called to the scene at 11:14 p.m., though no one was injured. The suspect was later arrested and is also under investigation for blackmail and making threats toward the player’s companion.
Police raided the agent’s home two days later and took him into custody before releasing him on bail on September 9 under strict conditions. He has been barred from contacting the player, visiting the player’s club training ground, or travelling abroad without police consent.
A court later granted limited changes to his bail, allowing pre-planned trips abroad on the condition that he surrenders his passport upon return.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed to The Sun, “We are investigating reports of a firearm being brandished in London on September 6. Enquiries remain ongoing.”
The player’s identity has not been disclosed for legal reasons, while the motive behind the alleged threat remains under investigation.
