Two major movie-going hubs in Massachusetts are preparing to dim their lights for the final time.
Showcase Cinemas in Randolph and Foxborough have announced that Sunday, Feb. 22 will be their final day of full operations, according to its website.
“We truly thank you for your dedicated patronage and hope to welcome you to one of our nearby locations,” the business wrote for both locations.
The Randolph theater at 73 Mazzeo Drive, opened on June 1, 1998, according to Cinema Treasures. The four-story building features 16 large screens, including curved ones in the largest halls and 4,200 seats.
The Patriot Place location opened for business in Foxborough in August 2008, offering movie-goers “premium reserved-seating, in-seat dining throughout the show as well as other special amenities.”
According to the Patriot Ledger, the Foxborough location will undergo renovations before Phoenix Theatres moves into the space this summer.
Including the Randolph and Foxborough theaters, Showcase Cinemas owns 22 locations, including 10 in Massachusetts, nine in New York, one in Ohio and two in Rhode Island.
The company did not provide a specific reason for these closures on its website.
Paramount Skydance, the owner of the Showcase Cinemas chain, did not immediately respond to MassLive’s request for comment Monday.
